I got on a bus that took me to Burjuman Station where I took the train going to Emirates station. It wasn’t working. No a/c, no fans, no nothing but a overheating metal box hot enough to bake your grandma’s cupcakes. But on that particular day, particular moment and particular weather of 48C (118F), the bus refused to appear. There’s a big tree near the bus stop so I sought shade there, and other people followed. By some unknown reason, the bus came only after 40 minutes. Dubai Air Conditioned Stop Air conditioned bus stops are a relative sober idea when we’re talking about indoor ski slopes and plans for a refrigerated beach, among hundreds of other examples currently undergoing consideration in Dubai. 800 of them are planning to appear in the coming years to help the local riders manage the heat.
