Hi, Mac collectors:
I have a dandy Powermac 7100/66, but I love this antediluvian model. But
today my printer died (I don't think the Mac ever will!), and I can't find another
one with the 8-pin connector. Is there any kind of adapter out there that will work,
or how can I get my "stuff" off of this old Powermac?
Any suggestions on where to pick up a used printer that still uses the 8-pin
connector would be greatly appreciated. Or can I down-loan everything off
the computer onto floppys. Then what?

Interesting article, and very good point. That's the one thing that keeps me hooked on Apple devices, there's just a completeness to them. They tend to look nice, feel nice, and work well. Some companies manage to get somethings right, but rarely get all 3 right as frequently as Apple does.
After reading the article i took a moment to press the home button my iPhone a couple times... there really is something to it isn't there?

If court / lawyer really want to reach you, they will have a person who will find you and "serve" you a paper.
They don't do it through phone calls.

Unfortunately, that will only pump songs to my iDevice within my LAN.
So... this is not a good solution because I want to be able to access my entire itunes library on the go. I hope the rumors are true and iTunes is gonna flippin use its data center for once and supply people their music on the go with just a 3G connection

Hello!
I bought a MacBook Pro on the 26th of February, and iWork along with it. So today when I was filling out the rebate form for iWork, I noticed that it asks for the UPC codes on the computer and the iWork, along with the receipt.
Well, that had me worried. If I sent in my receipt, and both of the UPC codes... I would have no way of proving that I bought this product, if any problems ever occur! Is this how it is supposed to be or am I missing something here?
Thanks!
I cut out both of the UPC codes on my MBP and iWork boxes. The Apple paperwork I got said you had to send in the UPC codes and original receipt. What I did was make a copy of my original receipt and sent that in. I got my rebate check without a problem. As long as you have a copy of your receipt you should not have a problem.

I read where someone installed imovie using ifile. How do you go about this? I have iMovie on my PC; is there a way to log into my PC through my iPad (via iFIle) and do it this way?
Thanks.
Thanks.

for cutting movies will the sound of the speakers be better than the ipod headphones (whihc is what I currently use)?
Unless you would like to invest in high quality monitors (yamaha). For the things you'll do they should work fine.

Hi -
I posted this about a month ago in the iMac forum and it hasn't been resolved. Someone suggested I move it over to this forum - so here goes.
My right shift key, arrow up key, and the 4, 5, and 6 keys on the number pad are all not working. Nothing has spilled.
I've plugged in a different keyboard - same problem. Zapped pram - problem remains. Trashed prefs, restarted, repaired disk permissions, mouse keys off, checked international settings, speech setting off - everything I could find online - nothing has worked. The keyboard viewer is showing that the keys are not being seen.
Two things have changed since I originally posted this in the iMac forum. I upgraded from 10.4 to 10.6 (finally), but the problem remains.
I've also tried out my wireless keyboard that I use with my laptop. Strangely - the wireless works fine.
Anybody have any thoughts? Why would TWO usb connected keyboards have the exact same issues, and the wireless work fine?
I'm fine with just buying a new keyboard - but I'm concerned that the same problem will happen with a new one.
Any thoughts are welcome.
Thank you!

For the 6115CD you'll need a AAUI to TP (Twisted Pair) Ethernet Transceiver (http://www.google.com/images?q=aaui+apple), the follow the instructions below (also dependent on what System Version is has). System 7 isn't going to play nice with MacOS 10.4 and later, but you could connect the 6115CD to the 7300, and then transfer from the 7300 to MacOS X).
For the 7300, Ethernet is the best was to go. Grab an Ethernet cable from your current Mac to the 7300. Now, on each machine setup TCP/IP and Appletalk over Ethernet.
For the TCP/IP setup, assign a manual address of 192.168.0.1 for one machine and 192.168.0.2 for the other. The Mask is 255.255.255.0 and the router address becomes the Manual IP address you gave to the OTHER machine.
Turn file sharing on on your new Mac, go to Chooser in the Apple Menu on the 7300, click on AppleShare, and then, if your new machine's Icon doesn't show up, click on "Manual IP Address" (IIRC), and enter the IP address you assigned to your new Mac.
That's a pretty brief overview. Things may not work for a variety of reasons but in a fair wind, this should work.
Good luck! :)

I have had this happen to me before. Before you go through the downgrading process, just go to the appstore on the iPhone and download any random app. For some reason, installing a new app fixes all the others and they open correctly. Hope this works for you!

Sorry for the noob question...but I can't find out how to connect my iMacs cd drive to my MacBook air so that I can install a program... Thanx for the help!!!
On the iMac, open Settings
Go to the "Sharing" section
Check "DVD or CD Sharing"
Once enabled, the MBA should see the drive and be able to connect to it.
If you have the Firewall on the iMac turned on, you may have to allow sharing there as well.
Pretty sure there is a good description on Apple's support site as well :)

Hey guys:
I've gone through two 13" mbas (1.86/4gb, ultimate) and both have had inversion or pixel walk screen issues. Any time i scroll through webpages pixels will shift very subtely - for instance in macrumors archive those fine lines that box in posts will blur when actively scrolling up/down.
I can't find any definitive posts on what causes this aside from voltage issues w/lcd. The folks at genius bar were not helpful.
This site: http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/inversion.php has some examples. Another thread on the issue https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2675037?threadID=2675037&tstart=43
Does anyone know if this is an issue with all the 13'' mbas? It's a small issue but really bothers me, especially since I scroll and read through tons of text and the flickering becomes pretty apparent.
Any advice on solutions or general thoughts on what the issue is exactly would be appreciated.
At this point I'm going to try a third 13'' ultimate and see if I get the same problem.
Same problem, 3 MBAs? Look elsewhere...impossible to get 3 bad ones in a row.

Just file a non-paying bidder report through ebay and wait it out. You'll get your listing fees back, then you can relist the item.
As a seller, you can not leave anything other than positive feedback for a buyer. Ebay made this change quite a while ago. Therefore, just don't bother leaving any feedback at all.
As a fairly prolific seller on ebay (I'm a power seller), this happens all the time. Just file the non-paying bidder report and move on.

Quick Question. I was wondering if anyone know what language is used to write generators for Final Cut Pro. The program uses normal plug ins like blur, levels and so on. But it also has an area where you can select Generators to add text, gradients, solid colors. Would it be a scripting language or objective-C?
I edit with FCP all the time and I would like to make a Slate Generator for myself. I doubt I can do it in Pascal :)
Thanks

Upon reading various google searches, it appears some users hack in firmware into their ipods, couldn't one simply take the older firmware of the 5/5.5g video and place it into the 6g classic?
No, the 6G has an encrypted firmware and has a very different internal setup the the 5/.5G iPod.
