Hey guys,
One of the fans in my 2007 mbp is broken and makes a horrifically loud buzzing and grinding noise when the fans speed up, is there a way to lower speeds of individual fans as the right one is fine but the let one needs turning down to reduce the noise a little.
Thanks guys

Thanks! I agree, but I do not have a Core2Duo mac. I am the happy owner of a MacBook 1,1.
That link is about the Core Duo, not the Core 2 Duo. I would suspect that come release, it will no longer be possible.

Doubt it. 512GB still costs too much and the market for such SSD is small. Apple likes to keep things simple and not offer many options.
They offer it with MBP, so yes. I will higher SSD cap with MBA refresh. It will be 512 GB SSD.
And you will have to pay a lot of greens to get it. Say about 1000 dollars on top of your MBA price.
Apple has offered 512GB SSD in MBPs since April 2010 so that does not mean it will be offered in the MBA.
Having trouble finding that? Can you give me a link?

That is the biggest.

That'd be me.
I'd say it depends a lot on the type of application you are talking about. If it's of the type "I need this for my work, and if I use it only once or twice, I'd gladly pay $2 for it because it saves me a lot of time" then go for paid. If its something that few people will use, but they will use it often (as in a reference manual of sorts), then these few people will generate many ad views, and making it ad-supported may be beneficial.

Evening all,
I was messing around with logic on my MBP today, and my son (6, nearly 7) was well into it, and soon took over playing around and adding in instruments/loops/effects and loving it.
In his room we have an old iMac G3, with a whopping 400MhZ processor and 512MB of RAM. Anyone got any recommendations for something similar that'll run on his machine? I know it's lacking the horsepower for a lot of the fancier effects, but once upon a time a 400Mhz G3 was cutting edge!
The iMac is running 10.4, and classic, but I have the OS9 CD if running that natively will open up more options. I think I read somewhere that it was possible to trick garageband 1 into running, but not that quickly. I could rig up an external firewire drive if that's likely to make things any more useable.
Cheers for any input.
Mike

could be the fan on the processor or a fan elsewhere in the imac
my powermac did the same thing and all it needed was a little oil on the ball-bearings of the fan on the cpu

I recently had a HDD failure on my iMac and decided to try and do a clean install and use Migration Assistant to migrate over my user data (wouldn't recommend this; there's just not enough fine grained control in MA to make it worthwhile). Anyway, I'm missing an item on my finder toolbar and was wondering if anyone has any hints as to what it may have been. While I can't remember what it was, it may have been useful from time to time. The only hint I have to what it is, is in the com.apple.finder.plist. The item-id is 'flxs'. If anyone can point me to what these item-ids reference I can probably pull some info out of my Time Machine backup.

The walmart on the beach side will have 2. Yes 2. I'm here now using my phone to check the forum. I'm still the only person so someone come claim spot #2. Bring a pillow and a sleeping bag or something and a deck of cards lol. I need some company. The associate told me people keep calling but no one has came yet.
Did you wait and get the phone? Were they the 32GB models? We came up the next morning - early, but 2 peeps already had them claimed.

What AdrianK says is correct. If you can find "3rd party" servers that run an older version of the game pre 4.0, then you should be able to play just fine. Unfortunately, playing on the official servers will no longer be possible, due to blizzard removing the ppc executable from the game.

Does anyone have available a 16GB new iPhone? what price would you be willing to sell for? Im just considering my options with the old iPhone, and the new one!
Thanks
You'll probably have more luck after they are released on July 11.

I have been folding since 2000, however I have yet to run F@H for long on my iMac. Reason being, CPU temps reach 85C. Is this safe for my Mac? I feel that at these temperatures I will need to take out an extended Apple Care warranty.
I highly doubt that folding or any processor intensive task will void your warranty, apple tests these machines before they release them and if using 100% of the CPU voids you warranty or damages the machine then I dont think apple would be selling them. Remember apple hardware isint stupid, if it gets too hot it will speed up the fans, if it gets hotter it will turn off also I would think they would put in a disclaimer by the Highest Performance setting. If you are that worried about it then you should set your processor to 'Reduced'

Hi all,
How do I transfer all of my music from my Ipod Touch to my New Mac Mini. I am running OS 10.6.7
I tried tinker tool, but no luck there, unless I am doing something wrong.
Thanks in advance,
Will

I checked to see if the store would let me select the new $299 16GB iPod touch or the new nanos, but according to the "Get a Free iPod" screen,
"iPod models introduced on September 9, 2008 are not eligible for this promotion."

My first suggestion is to get a hold of a mini DVI to HDMI adapter and see if that port is affected as well.
If that doesn't work, try booting from your boot disc and or/resetting your PRAM.
Now that I think more about it, I do not even know how valuable resetting the PRAM is anymore these days. It doesn't have the same impact it used to.
I have a Mac Mini mid-2009 model, and I bought a Mini-display port to HDMI adapter to hook it up to my LED TV. I have used it over more than a year with XBMC with no problem.
Now, yesterday I unplugged the Mini-Display to HDMI adapter from my Mini because I needed the adapter for a presentation on my Macbook Pro.
Now when I returned home and plugged everything back as it original was, the HDMI output stopped working! TV says No Signal. I checked with different HDMI inputs on my TV. none worked.
I hook up my Macbook Pro with the cable and it works.. So is my Mac Mini suddenly broken!?
