I think someone is mistaken. If the logic board were dead, then it wouldnt work, power cord or otherwise.
+1, this. If you have a dead logic board, that = dead computer.

There's a kind of strange relationship between the directory structure on the boot HD and what Finder shows you, that hides some of the Unix directories. Also, you may not have an /opt directory -- I don't. Do this:
Open Terminal
Type:
cd /
ls
If you see an entry "opt," you can type "open opt" which will open opt in a new Finder window, even though it isn't normally visible.
If you do not, make one:
mkdir opt
Again, you can use "open opt" to get to this in finder, or you can continue to make the directories with mkdir, and you can use cp to copy the files.
Thanks! Turns out I didn't have an opt directory.

Hey guys,
So I'm a complete noob when it comes to running Windows on my Mac. At the moment, I've partitioned my HD in two, and I'm running SL and Lion on the separate partitions.
I'm wondering though, is it possible to split my HD a third time and install Windows on this partition?
Thanks!

Not sure if this helps, but have you updated the software to the latest version? MS released a Service Pack recently.

I'm really digging this DSLR for some reason.. my budget for my first camera is $1200 and I narrowed it down to the Sony A55 or the Nikon D7000

Yes it generally will.

I'm noticing the same thing - jerky animation, delays with typing. No new packages from the ones I had with all previous 4.x.x. Strange.

So my Classic has gone from it's old 20ish hour battery life to a measly 2-2 1/2 hours if I'm lucky.
My question is has anyone bought a good battery for the first gen 80GB Classic and if so does it outperform the old stock one?
Thanks!

Just a note... if your fear is of a thread being "derailed", then your ignoring of a particular user may not help as it doesn't mean that others won't see their post and respond to it.

Well, I want to buy a warranty for my MacBook Air and I've seen a lot of people say good things about AppleCare and Squaretrade warranties, but I don't know which is the better buy. Squaretrade's warranty covers accidental damage which is huge while AppleCare does not. AppleCare on the other hand extends my current warranty to 3 years and gives me 3 years of phone support. Squaretrade is $159 for a 1 year warranty, and $239 for 2 years. Apple is $249 for 3 years and no accidental damage.
Which would you say is the better buy? I dont know anything really about Squaretrade, but it seems like accidental damage being covered would come with a catch.
Personal stories from anyone that has used Squaretrade in the past would be very helpful.

Just curious: what was the final verdict on the 5870 and the '06/'07 models?
YES
However, it's probably better to get a 5770 as you will be bottlenecked by other parts of your machine and won't be able to take full advantage of the 5870's POWAH
