    Why so many negative votes?

Maybe because most manufacturers have started selling Core 2 Duo computers but Apple hasn't.

Apple Insider was saying the movie price would be $14.99 -I would not pay that much to watch a movie on a small screen... no way, unless I had a hour long commute to work on a train... can't believe there are that many people like that out there!

I wonder if these people are buying one to "test it out" or are buying multiple movies.

Well, I bought one "to test it out" (as I've done with each iT[nee M]S intro.)

But I also bought a couple TV shows that I had wanted before, but didn't want at 320x240. The 640x480 version of the Babylon 5 Pilot looks just as good as my DVD copy. (And it's nice, because it's the as-originally-aired version, not the TNT give-plot-away-early edit.) The CG looks a little worse, but that's because it was worse. (They re-did some of the CG for the TNT version.)

Very, Very cool move to allow a swap for the track pad instead of the magic mouse. +1 Apple.

The magic mouse is a total POS IMHO.

    Razer Mouse + iMac FTW

why is apple wasting time, money and resources on a damn red U2 ipod? I hope the Zune becomes a big hit and takes a big chunk out of apple market share so they can focus on making a better product instead of these stupid minor updates and colors.

Oh God yes this is what I want.

I've read where iTunes 7 supports multiple libraries, but it's not the solution we're waiting for.

I want to rip a CD onto my powerbook and have iTunes sync it with a master library on a partition of my external drive next time I hook it up. Right now, I'd have to remember to copy the new files onto the external... no good—I want it to be automatic and just work (Apple has spoiled me).

It's called 'rsync', and it's one of the BSD utilities built into OS X.

If you either have a really small library, or money to burn (on .Mac and the storage upgrade; but even then, only up to 4 GB,) you could use .Mac as your library storage, and just have Automatic iDisk sync turned on.

edit: I know I saw something about how to trick your computer into thinking another computer on your network is the .Mac server, which would let you use all of the current .Mac functions hosted locally; this would work great for an 'iDisk-hosted' library. As long as you don't ever connect to a different internet connection, and it tries to sync with the real iDisk.

And if you are looking for specs from unannounced products from Apple, you are going to quickly get used to being disappointed.

Mate I've been following MacRumors for many years. I don't need a description of the website.

You miss the point entirely. The site is all about speculation, fact or fiction, about forthcoming products. However, there's nothing in this "news" piece that's worth speculating. Nothing we can't figure ourselves.

It's still news whether it's classed as a rumor or not. However, there's no substance of worth in this news. That was the point.

Hey. A boy can dream, right?

Remember when Apple put the latest and greatest GPUs in their computers? /looks back to the blue and white G3 keynote

Im with you dude...I see NO reason that apple couldnt pony up for a legitimate GPU. Especially since the 27iMac has alot of pixels to push...heck, the base GPU should have a GB of frame buffer at least. Ahhh, base 6850, 150.00 upgrade gets you a 6950 :D

Don't forget the 42" HD monitor Apple will drop at the event. What else did you think Apple would let you watch a movie on? (beside your iPod of course)

    Bring it on!

The updated iMacs are said to feature Sandy Bridge and Thunderbolt as expected, but no major cosmetic changes are reported to be included.

This is a no brainer. What's the next piece of breaking news, an annual iPhone centric event in June or July?

couldn't apple develop something into itunes that lets you watch while it is downloading? is this possible?

    It already works that way:

    http://www.apple.com/itunes/store/movies.html

Shop the iTunes Store for hot new releases such as Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, and download them for $12.99 the week theyre released on DVD. Or buy Disney library titles for $9.99 to $14.99. All your favorites are here: The Princess Diaries, The Incredibles, Cinderella, Toy Story, The Rock, The Rookie, and more. Search for movies just as you would for music, and watch a free trailer before you download. Or, if you cant wait for the next blockbuster to hit shelves, feel free to pre-order upcoming releases. iTunes will let you know the minute theyre ready to download. Cant wait to start the show? You can even watch your movie as it downloads.

New iMacs? Are you freakin kidding me? I just bought a damn iMac and now there is already new ones! Pffff...

Then you haven't been paying attention. We've KNOWN new iMacs were coming in September ever since Intel announced Core 2 Duo was coming in September, THREE MONTHS AGO. I've been waiting three months for the Core 2 Duo iMac update.

You can daisy chain multiple monitors with DisplayPort 1.2, and it has much more bandwidth than a Thunderbolt channel.

DP 1.2 has up to 17.28 Gbps.
TB has two 10 Gbps channels.

    For those wanting retina displays:
No modern GPU can display anything past 2560x1600 on a single screen.

    Please

Do you mean they lack the power or that its not a selectable option? They have the power, have had it for years. Dual 2560x1600 screen setups off one graphics card is easily attainable.

What I don't get is why can't Apple enable any iOS device (iPod Touch, iPhone, iPad) as an Airplay target device? Obviously iOS supports it as Apple TV can be a target for Airplay from iTunes.

I've been a happy Cingular customer for a few years now. Even though I just bought a new Nokia phone I'll gladly snap up an iPhone if it has all the features I need.

I highly doubt it. Remember, when Apple gets big, they'll have the group of haters that follow Microsoft claiming monopoly.

Well Apple isn't afraid of buying companies. The whole idea for the iPod came not from Apple but from a company they took over.
